CANNER II - JOB DESCRIPTION
Canners will shift plant material to larger size cans and boxes up to 24” boxes.
Essential Functions:
• Utilizes and maintains the PPE provided, care and clean company equipment used.
• Good knowledge of plant identification and quality.
• Follows proper canning techniques for each specific plant variety.
• Typically, is working with a Canning Crew assigned to a canning machine.
• The Canner II will power the canning machine off and on.
• Uses equipment to supply bins on soil mixer.
• Will operate RTV to haul and stock plants after the canning process.
• General care for the nursery grounds, keeping the nursery clean, organized, and safe for employees, customers, and vendors.
• General care for nursery stock (plants), ensures plants are watered, handled with care, and are placed in the appropriate location.
Additional tasks:
• May assist in other nursery departments as needed.
• Duties are subject to change at any time per management’s discretion.
Job Specifications:
Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions on uneven ground surfaces and rainy weather. Must be able to remain in a stationary position (standing/sitting). Extensive walking. Stooping, kneeling, and crouching required. Bending at the waist, twisting, turning, and squatting is required.
Lifting requirements: Up to 50 lbs. 75 percent of the time. Up to 100 lbs. 25 percent of the time (team lift techniques when required).
Hand movement: Gross grasping for moving plant material. Use of hands/fingers.
Salary : $17 - $19
