Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Front Desk Agent to join our Outpatient Imaging team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing various administrative tasks. This role requires proficiency in medical terminology, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of healthcare operations.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression of the clinic.
- Manage patient scheduling, including appointments and follow-ups, utilizing EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks.
- Handle phone inquiries with professionalism and courtesy, demonstrating strong phone etiquette.
- Assist with insurance verification and documentation review to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain accurate medical records and patient information in accordance with EHR systems.
- Process medical billing and coding tasks using CPT coding and ICD-10/ICD-9 standards.
- Support the medical team by preparing care plans and managing clerical tasks as needed.
- Ensure the front desk area is organized and welcoming at all times.
- Collaborate with other staff members to enhance patient service and streamline office operations.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred, including roles such as Medical Receptionist or Front Desk Agent.
- Familiarity with medical coding (ICD coding) and billing processes is essential.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and multi-line phone systems is required.
- Strong typing skills (10 key typing) for efficient data entry are necessary.
- Bilingual candidates are highly desirable to serve a diverse patient population effectively.
- Knowledge of health information management practices and dental terminology is a plus for those applying to dental offices.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are crucial for success in this role.
