- Job Title: Patient Access Representative
- Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt
- Shift: PRN (as needed)
- ***This PRN position will need to be able to work in any of our DRI locations (Summerfield, NC, Greensboro, NC and Burlington, NC)
- PRN's shifts - open availability. Shifts available 7 days a week from 7 am - 7 pm
Description
The Patient Access Representative is responsible for the orderly flow of patients and visitors through the lobby in preparation for their radiology exams. This position requires an understanding of radiology exam orders and coordination or verification of insurance coverage. The Patient Access Representative is responsible for effective, diplomatic, and empathetic communications with patients, their families, and referring physician offices.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Facilitate patient experience through coordination of insurance, exam order verification, checking patient in, financial payment plan, payment collection, and medical record distribution. Utilize AIDET Principles in all patient and provider encounters.
· Verify patient procedures and authorizations via date, physician orders and insurance codes. Communicate with the patient the necessary authorization information.
· Coordinate billing, finance, and insurance activities by interpreting insurance coverages, coordinating claims, payments, and daily payment reconciliation.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Experience/Skills: Minimum 1-year medical office experience. Must possess knowledge of the following:
o Attention to detail.
o Have the ability to prioritize independently.
o Ability to multi-task in a busy office environment
o Proficient customer service skills
o Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, Email
o Ability to comprehend and utilize Electronic Medical Record Systems and payment collections systems. Use of standard medical office equipment.
o Consistently model AIDET principles, service excellence, and service recovery.
o Consistently demonstrate commitment to safe practices while abiding by all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
Physical requirements: Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling. Must be able to stand, stoop, lift, and walk without restrictions. The flow of work and character of duties involve remaining in a seated stationary position and performing keyboard operations constantly; communicating with internal and external stakeholders frequently; and moving/traversing about the office or remaining in an upright stationary position on an occasional basis.
Working Conditions: Moderate noise associated with a typical work environment (computers, printers, and light traffic) is characteristic of this job.
Conditions of employment: This role works onsite. Compliance with OSHA and HIPAA guidelines, wear all required Personal Protective Equipment. Adherence to the Mission, Vision, and Values of DRI and professional representation of DRI.
