Job Summary: The Machine Technician is responsible for the maintenance, continual operation and continuous improvement of all DOD lines and related auxiliary equipment. The Technician will optimize mechanical efficiency by adjusting machinery and equipment settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform required preventative maintenance on equipment; ensure equipment is running to standard processes; optimize mechanical efficiency by adjusting machinery and equipment settings.
- Assist with the training of team members on safe and efficient use of equipment.
- Assist Operators with complex job set ups, trouble-shooting when issues arise, and document procedures for future reference.
- Proactively communicate essential information to the team including information regarding incomplete repairs and any potential problems on the lines.
- Participate in developing action plans to create greater efficiencies and resolve potential issues with safety, quality, production and 5S
- Apply the appropriate hand/power tools, electric and volt meters, equipment to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair/replace parts
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Technical Degree and/or 5 years minimum experience in the print industry as an Operator
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Prior experience troubleshooting PLC devices, printers and labelers; Pneumatic and hydraulic
- Expertise in encoding and imaging including barcode construction
- Software knowledge of CPST, Atlantic Zeiser and Precision Finishing lines
- Shrink-wrap and oven operational knowledge
- Multi feeder and labeler operational knowledge
- Hot melt equipment and operational application knowledge
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the company
- Basic computer skills
- Forklift lift experience
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and lock-out tag-out procedures
