What are the responsibilities and job description for the Road Construction CDL Driver - Slurry Truck position at Diamond Surface Inc?

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Individual will drive a slurry/tanker truck, connected to our grinding machine, to collect the concrete slurry.
- A slurry truck is a tanker truck that is connected to our grinding machines via a hose. The hose is used to vacuum up the residue (slurry) that results when our grinder blades grind the road. A slurry truck driver will drive along with the grinder operator at a slow speed in order to vacuum up that concrete slurry. A slurry truck driver may have to get in/out of the truck from time to time to ensure hose connections are good, ensure there is nothing in front of the grinder, and check tank fullness. Slurry truck drivers are required to have a CDL A license (with tanker endorsement).
- Individual will empty slurry as the tanker gets full.
- Individual will consistently get in and out of the truck to move hoses for the grinder.
- Individual may have to move traffic barrels from time to time.
- Individual will help other employees with various labor duties as required and participate in working days at the yard.
- Individual will need to climb on top of tanker for washout at the end of the day.
- Individual will comply with all local, state, and federal regulations as well as company policies and procedures including those related to safety.

QUALIFICATIONS/JOB SKILLS:
- Valid Class A driver's license with tanker endorsement.
- Must be able to maintain ELogs.
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and transportation practices.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Must have the ability to make decisions in difficult situations.
- Must have some mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- You will be frequently asked to stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, tools or controls and reach with hands/arms
- Ability to life 50lbs or more as needed
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to stay with equipment for long periods of time
- Ability to climb or crawl on equipment occasionally and on the ground to work on equipment
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Outside environment, exposure to all weather conditions and temperature extremes. Site specific exposure to various materials requiring proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. Noise levels are site specific and may be subject to PPE.
- Extensive travel, potentially weeks to months at a time, and extended hours.
- Working day shifts, night shifts or a combination of both.
