What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Literacy Coach position at Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District?
LOCATION: Dickinson and Iron County Schools
LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 200 days, Full Time (beginning with the 2023-24 school year)
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary based on education/experience; Full benefit package & insurance
OVERVIEW OF DUTIES: Individual will work collaboratively within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports to develop and model high quality lessons and units for teachers, coach one-on-one K-3 classrooms, support the integration of technology in effective instruction and assessment, participate in continuous improvement activities, and remain knowledgeable about current research relevant to the coaching role.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Qualified applicants must have one of the following degrees/licenses:
· Ability to work well with people and maintain productive and positive relationships
· Minimum of 5 years teaching experience (elementary preferred)
· Current Michigan Teaching/Administrator Certificate
· Master’s degree in related field preferred
· Demonstrated success with teaching students at-risk in the area of reading
· Knowledge of current state standards
· Instructional skills and knowledge base in early literacy components such as phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension
· Familiarity and success with utilizing formative, screening, and diagnostic tools with students to determine appropriate reading instruction
· Driving may be necessary for this position, which would require a valid driver’s license.
