What are the responsibilities and job description for the Appraisal Coordinator position at Dieterich Bank?
The Appraisal Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the day-to-day operations of the Appraisal Department to ensure efficient workflow. The position will include ordering and reviewing commercial and residential real estate appraisals and performing evaluations and validations as needed.
Essential Duties:
- Manages the Appraisal Inbox and maintains an appraisal and evaluation order log.
- Adheres to all applicable laws and regulations government Bank operations, including compliance with all appraisal and environmental rules and related regulations.
- Assists the Appraisal Review Manager in the ordering of appraisal reports and drafts appraisal engagement letters.
- Provides updates to appraisers and Bank personnel on the status of assignments.
- Communicates requirements effectively to external fee appraisers and external environmental engineering firms.
- Performs administrative reviews of commercial and residential real estate appraisals and/or environmental reports for compliance with law and policy and for reasonableness and quality.
- Maintains effective relationships with external fee appraisers and other vendors.
- Conducts preliminary market research and gathers property-specific data for appraisal and evaluation orders.
- Performs real estate evaluations and validations.
- Resolves valuation differences/discrepancies between appraisers and loan production staff while maintaining Appraiser Independence.
- Maintains knowledge of real estate value trends and property developments to ensure valuations conform to current market conditions.
- Updates the Bank's Approved Appraiser list on a regular basis.
- Remains up to date on regulations and knowledge surrounding the appraisal industry through continuing research, training, and development.
Secondary Duties:
- Gather market data from various sources to utilize in the Bank's appraisal process and maintain a database of information.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Working knowledge and understanding of types and practical aspects of both residential and commercial real estate appraisals, preferred.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of regulations affecting the appraisal industry to include FIRREA, USPAP, and the Interagency Guidelines, preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and computers in general
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervisions, as well as a team environment
- Working knowledge of databases like Costar, MLS, and Loopnet preferred
- Intermediate math skills including the ability to:
- Calculate interest, proportions, and percentages
- Balance accounts
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Locate routine mathematical errors
- Compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's Degree in business, management, or a related field or equivalent experience
- 2 years of experience in the following areas preferred:
- Appraisal department or firm
- Real estate lending (commercial and residential)
- Real estate sales, broker, or investor
- Equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Work Schedule:
This position requires 40 hours each week with work primarily being done Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Travel may be required as necessary to fulfil appraisal needs and working hours after normal business may happen on occasion.

Work Environment:
This job operates in an office setting much of the time which requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Travel outside the office will occur occasionally throughout the week to visit different branches and/or attend training events.
