Qualifications:
A Ph.D., M.S. or M.A in any field of African World Studies from an accredited institution is required. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and effective use of instructional technology. A doctorate and experience with online teaching are preferred. Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in History from an accredited institution. Coursework and/or teaching experience in Western Civilization, African History and World History. Teaching experience in a college setting in addition to the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; experience working with diverse populations, familiarity and willingness to employ current pedagogical, instructional and assessment methods in teaching college students ; evidence of teamwork and collaborative efforts; commitment to service learning; successful problem solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Job Description:
Instructor responsibilities: instruct Survey History courses (Western Civilization, African World Studies, World History, United States History); manage courses through systematic use of syllabi and accurate reports of students’ class performance, attendance and grades; assist in course review and/or selection of instructional materials; serve on committees of the school or college; attend school and university faculty meetings and graduations; and comply with all university policies.
Fulltime- History/AWS Professor, Non-Tenure Track.
This is a non-tenure track, full-time appointment as an Assistant Professor or Instructor of which requires teaching and service. The appointment is effective August 14, 2023.
The successful candidate reports to the Chair of the School of Social Sciences.
Job Requirements:
Teaching responsibilities will include up to 12 hours lecture and/or lab per week. The professor must maintain six (6) office hours per week. The successful candidate must complete the mandatory Canvas training course and submit all required course documents at the end of semester.
