Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Security Specialist with a minimum of 8 years of experience in cybersecurity, specifically in environments requiring compliance with NCJIS/CJIS standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing robust access control mechanisms, data encryption, and ensuring adherence to law enforcement data security protocols. This role requires a deep understanding of criminal justice information systems, regulatory compliance frameworks, and secure system architecture. The candidate must also be skilled in conducting risk assessments, security audits, and maintaining documentation for audit readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and manage access control systems, encryption, and secure data transmission protocols.

• Ensure compliance with NCJIS/CJIS security policies and guidelines across IT systems.

• Perform regular security risk assessments, audits, and incident response activities.

• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and internal IT/security teams to ensure secure data sharing.

• Maintain comprehensive security documentation, including policies, procedures, and training materials.

Requirements:

• 8 years of experience in IT security or related field.

• Strong knowledge of CJIS Security Policy, especially Sections 4 and 5 (Policy Area & Technical Safeguards).

• Experience with encryption standards, identity & access management (IAM), and security monitoring tools.

• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST, FISMA, or ISO 27001 is a plus.

• Must be based in the United States with the ability to pass CJIS background screening.
