We are poised for growth and are thrilled to welcome a creative, compassionate and experienced Youth Transition Specialist to provide independent living support services for individuals and group. This includes working with youth, young adults, and adults on completing independent living assessments; identifying barriers to employment; developing independent living plans; and building employment, social, self-advocacy, and independent living skills. In doing so you will collaborate with vocational rehabilitation agencies, local school districts, and community partners on services for youth ages 14-26. We can’t wait for this new chapter and the positive impact it will have on the lives of our consumers!
You could be the right person for this important seat if you have:
1) One to three years’ experience providing assistance to individuals and organizations on independent living, transition-to-work, or employment issues.
2) One year of experience working with people with disabilities.
3) Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or at least 3 years of relevant work experience with youth and transition to employment. Classroom experience working with youth preferred.
4) A commitment to and knowledge of the Independent Living movement and philosophy and person-first perspective.
5) Knowledge about needs and services on a wide variety of independent living and employment issues for people with disabilities.
6) Experience providing community outreach, collaborating with partners, and the development of new services while improving existing ones.
7) Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and keen attention to detail.
8) Robust technology skills. Adept with Microsoft Office, video conferencing platforms, and a variety of web-based applications.
9) Strong oral communication skills, including public speaking, and are a highly organized self-starter.
10) Clear, crisp, elevated writing and communication with swift response and follow-up.
