What you’ll do:
The STEAM Program Developer creates the experiences that bring the mission of Discovery Lab to life. This position leads the creative STEAM team that includes the Education Director, Education Manager of Informal Learning, High Facilitation and Visitor Experience Leads others who have content expertise or implementation responsibilities. The STEAM Program Developer will plan, organize, lead, and evaluate the STEAM programs in the High Facilitation, Big Science, and demonstration elements for the Museum and refine their impact with our visitors.
- Lead initial concept development of STEAM informal content and formal curricula for the Education and Visitor Experience Departments
- Prototype activities and programs to provide world-class STEAM experiences in the High Facilitation exhibit spaces.
- Purchases and fabricates prototype demos, activities and experiences.
- Creates the experiences to allow six changing High Facilitation exhibits each year.
- Promotes safety, curiosity, joy and outrageous STEAM learning throughout the Discovery Lab.
What you’ll need:
- Deep content knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Earth and Space Sciences.
- Strong understanding of informal learning approaches in non-classroom settings.
- Excellent creativity and ability to promote brainstorms with team members.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong initiative and with the ability to teach conceptual science to team members.
- The ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, science, or STEAM-adjacent field or equivalent education and experience.
Whom you’ll support:
Orientation and teaching of High Facilitation Education and Visitor Engagement full-time and part-time staff.

How you’ll work:
This position is regular, full-time, and nonexempt. The typical work schedule for this job is 8:30 am-5:00 pm and varies depending on staffing needs with occasional weekend work. Moderate to loud noise environment.
