DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES
The Director of Human Resources at NYC's leading catering and event company, Dish Food & Events is a warm, authentic leader who drives both the strategic vision and excellence in our HR practices. As the champion of our culture and values, the Director of HR will provide expertise in recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, policy guidance and benefits administration. Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR, covering the full range of HR functions
- 2 years of experience in people management, with a proven ability to lead and inspire a team
- Strong proficiency in computer applications including email, word processing, presentation software and spreadsheets with a proficiency in GoogleWorkspace preferred.
- Skilled at guiding, teaching, and holding team members accountable
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Solid understanding of federal, state, and local employment regulations
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively and deliver impactful training sessions
- A high level of integrity with the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred
Overview of responsibilities:
RECRUIT AN EXCELLENT TEAM
- Make amazing hires - focusing on hires who are “51%ers”--candidates who first align with Dish’s mission and Core Values followed by strong experience and skill set
- Work with department managers to recruit and hire team members to fill vacant positions. This will include placing ads, maintaining posts and job descriptions across multiple platforms.
- Utilize and network with professional connections to find the best and most qualified candidates.
MAKE DISH AN AWESOME PLACE TO WORK
- Innovate new ways to make Dish a great place to work.
- Improve retention
- In coordination with department managers, manage the onboarding and training of all new hires; plan and conduct new team member orientation
- Provide recommendations to enhance processes and create efficiencies.
- Improve employee satisfaction and recognition.
- Promote and improve our Dish Dollars recognition program.
COMPLIANCE
- Collaborating with Dish legal council, ensure compliance with all federal, state, local laws for required training and posted notices
- Conduct investigations, manage progressive discipline and advise management in appropriate resolution of team member relations issues
- Process documentation related to unemployment claims, sick pay, wage garnishments, and other notices
- Reduce liability by instituting workplace safety training and standards.
- Investigate workplace accidents and prepare reports for insurance carrier, serving as liaison for all worksite injuries/accidents; monitor workers compensation claims
- Establish and record ongoing SOPs related to Staffing, Training and Human Resources processes.
- Maintain and update company handbook

- Occasionally attend off premise full service events (approximately 1-2 per month) to gain insight into our operations.
