General Description
Distribution System Resources (DSR) is a water distribution system maintenance contractor. DSR assists water utilities and districts in the maintenance and operation of their water distribution system (see the list of tasks and functions below).
Working with a Crew Lead, a Distribution System Technician performs the operations and maintenance functions below on potable water distribution systems in an efficient and effective manner.

Performs the following tasks and functions:
- Water main valve inspection & exercising
- Fire hydrant inspection & maintenance
- Water storage tank cleaning
- Water distribution system flushing to maintain (or improve) water quality.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Equipment used ranges from simple hand tools to hydraulic valve operators to data gathering using Asset Management software that is compatible with Geographic Information Systems on notebooks and/or iPads, mobile phones, and laptop computers.
Knowledge and abilities
- Ability to understand and follow directions from a Crew Lead.
- Knowledge of the proper use of hand tools of all types.
- Ability to learn basic knowledge of conventional underground piping systems and appurtenances. * Ability to develop and maintain client relations.
- Must be able to follow and implement safe practices including traffic safety and confined space safety.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Education, Certification and other credentials
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Valid Colorado driver’s license. Must maintain a good driving record.
- Colorado Water Distribution System Operator Certification preferred.
Physical demands
- Sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat crawl, twist, climb, push, pull, lift 50 pounds, lift 25 pounds repetitively, distinguish color, and wear protective apparel.
- Exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining workspace, mechanical hazards, and traffic hazards.
- Ability to travel to different sites and locations.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $23.45 – 25.85/hr DOE
