Job Summary: The job of AVID Tutor was established for the purpose/s of assisting students in achieving academic goals.
Essential Job Functions: ? Acts as a model of personal excellence and high expectation for the purpose of setting an example for AVID students to follow. ?Communicates frequently and honestly with the AVID coordinator/teacher for the purpose of providing information regarding progress and areas of concern. ?Conducts mini-lessons in the process of writing in all subject areas, study skills and other aspects for the purpose of college preparation. ? Conducts tutorial sessions in all areas of mathematics for the purpose of assisting students in achieving the goals of their mathematical assignments. ? Evaluates student binders (e.g. calendars, class and textbook notes, etc.) for the purpose of determining scheduled tasks and assignments. ? Examines student notes and discussions for the purpose of determining the concepts that need to be taught or retaught. ? Familiarizes him/herself with materials in the AVID Curriculum Libraries for the purpose of understanding the materials that are being taught to the student. ? Works with students in any phase of the writing process (e.g. brainstorming, clustering, revision and editing) for the purpose of exploring problem-solving and literary techniques.
QUALIFICATIONS Required (Education & Experience) ? High School Diploma or equivalent ? IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (Needed before first day of employment)
Additional Eligibility Requirements ? Valid driver’s license.
