- After submitting your online application; proceed with the steps listed below.
- Obtaining an Expanded Criminal History/DCS check may be done 1 of 2 ways. The first way is to contact Sheila Barger (sbarger@lburg.k12.in.us) to have an invitation emailed to you. The second option is to go to the corporation website (http://www.lburg.k12.in.us); under MENU select STAFF RESOURCES then click on Expanded Background Check (Safe Hiring Solutions). This will take you to the Safe Hiring Solutions website where you will enter your first name, last name, email, position & security code. For the position drop-down, choose the certified position application if you have/had a teaching license while all others choose non-certified. You will receive 2 emails from Safe Hiring Solutions containing your user ID/password. Once you have completed the criminal history portion and made the payment, you will receive 2 additional emails from kidtraks.gov within 48-72 hours. Kidtraks.gov is the state portal used for completing the DCS (IN Dept. of Child Services) portion of the check. Once you receive the 2 emails from kidtraks.gov you will have 10 business days to complete them. Your background check will be reviewed by the corporation once completed for approval.
- Go online to https://license.doe.in.gov/. Create a profile for yourself. A confirmation email will be sent to you. Open the message and click on the link. This will take you to LVIS where you will log in and begin entering your information for your Substitute Teacher Permit. After you complete and submit the application, we will confirm approval and you will receive an email stating such. At this time, you must log back in to print your Substitute Teacher Permit. The State does NOT allow the School Corporation printing capabilities so you MUST print your permit and bring it to our office with the rest of the required paperwork. You will be required to pay $16.32 online with a Visa or MasterCard to get your permit.
- You will be placed on the substitute teacher list when all of the above steps have been completed. All subs are contacted by our corporation sub coordinator, Kim Cherry.
