Description
The Purchasing Assistant works with the Purchasing Team to create and confirm that purchase orders are processed in a timely manner, as well as managing the inventory of these goods to ensure final product schedule completion.
Reports To: Senior Purchaser
Responsibilities:
Accurately processes purchase orders in a timely and effective manner based on need by dates and order quantities provided by the Production Manager.
- Coordinates external purchases and scheduled shipment pick-ups based on contract terms.
- Assists in sourcing parts.
- Confirm and follow up orders, shipment deliveries and receipts of purchased goods.
- Maintains daily shipping report from overseas vendor.
- Investigates late shipments, shipment quality issues, order discrepancies with suppliers, and escalates issues within the purchasing team.
- Expedites rush orders and follows up with suppliers
- Manages Min/Max inventory report and compares bill of materials to drawings to check for accuracy, as well as ensure all parts are included in inventory for the builds.
- Files and maintains packaging samples and materials.
- Performs clerical functions (answers telephones, distributes purchase orders, schedules, copies, etc.) for the purpose of supporting departmental activities.
- Closes out completed purchase orders (files and maintains purchase order related paperwork and documents).
- Demonstrates continued improvement to eliminate errors and rework; brings up recurring issues with potential solutions to direct supervisor.
- Participates in continuous improvement activities.
- Arranges freight and manages trucking arrangements.
- Creates and deactivates items.
- Manages, files and reviews claims.
- Performs packaging print quality inspections.
- Maintains supplier documents.
- Exhibits a positive and professional attitude with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Will work with purchasing, production and engineering.
- Performs additional duties and projects as requested by management.
Requirements
Job Requirement/Skills:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems is an asset. Proficient with, detail, math, verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum 2 years’ applicable experience.
Must Reside in Tri-Cities TN.
Drug screening is required.
