DSP (Direct Support Professional)

We are seeking a compassionate Direct Service Provider to join our team. The ideal candidate is similar in age to a 23-year-old female client and will provide care and support to her, focusing on community integration, mobility aid care and ensuring the client can attend medical appointments. The client is fiercely independent and values being able to complete tasks on their own. There may not be much required of the DSP on a given shift beyond acting as a friend to the client. A modified vehicle is NOT required; the client has an easily folding wheelchair and is learning to use prosthetics to facilitate movement.

The proposed schedule for this work is Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. but hours may flex as client needs.

Responsibilities:

-Planning community integration and recreational outings. The client has expressed being unhappy with being "cooped up" inside all the time.
- Transportation to outings with a personal vehicle, as well as medical visits. The client is an adult and their own guardian, so they have the final say if they'd like you to sit in with them at these appointments or simply wait for them to be done.
- Assist with minor tasks related to colostomy, urostomy. (Such as handing client supplies so they can change items out as needed.)
-Possibly assisting client with getting used to walking with prosthetics. (See earlier noted independence)
- Offer patient-centered care tailored to individual needs

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in direct service provision or related field is preferred, but not required
-DSP MUST BE ABLE TO WORK WITH/LIKE CATS. THE CLIENT HAS 3!
-CPR/First Aid certification is preferred, but can be earned after the hiring process is complete.
- Client has expressed a fascination with tattoos, having them is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Current/valid driver’s license, and a legally insured personal vehicle are REQUIRED.
- Compassionate and patient-oriented approach to caregiving.
