Description
This position is responsible for laboratory analytics and various operational support functions including quality control, cross-departmental support, and EHS compliance.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Performs Quality Control (QC) analyses on all required raw materials, processes, finished products, and waste samples.
- Champions R&D projects and equipment qualification from cradle to grave (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Maintains proper files for retaining samples and quality records. Ensures timely removal of samples by following the company retention standard.
- Prepares reagents and standards; calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation as needed.
- Performs preventative maintenance for all lab equipment.
- Interprets analysis results, records data accurately, and enters results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LabSoft LIMS).
- Manages the LabSoft LIMS, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely data entry and system functionality.
- Collects water and environmental samples for regulatory testing and permitting support.
- Works closely with EHS&Q and Operations Management to ensure all analytical results are within required ranges and meet applicable environmental and regulatory standards and site-specific permit requirements.
- Assists with maintaining and improving compliance with ISO 9001 standards, including participation in audits and documentation reviews.
- Reviews and updates laboratory SOPs as needed to reflect current practices, regulatory changes, and quality requirements.
- Maintain an inventory level of lab consumables, reagents, and standards to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.
- EHS responsibilities include: possible inspections and audits as assigned, participating in Hazard Reviews as needed, recommending safety improvements, completing of safety action items as assigned, completing required regulatory training, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Other assignments derived from the American Carbonyl leadership team to meet the goals and objectives of the organization.
Qualifications
Requirements
• Associate degree in a Science Preferred or High School Diploma/GED with 3-5 years in industrial work experience.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, & and Outlook; Basic math skills
• Ability to work approved overtime if needed, including nights and weekends.
• Demonstrate self-motivated ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
• Great attention to detail
• MRP/ERP system experience preferred but not required.
• Must not be seriously deficient in hearing or sense of smell and must be able to wear a demand-style respirator.

This job may require the following: primarily sitting while working on a computer /speaking on the phone and reaching above shoulder height and below the waist as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday and lift up to 50 pounds on occasion. Proper lifting techniques are required.
Primary environment: Inside working area - ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. May occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, and mandatory hearing protection.
