Step into a dynamic hands-on role at Dixie Land Energy as a Financial Controller. The Financial Controller is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the firm’s books and records with an emphasis on multi-state tax returns, financial statements, treasury and general ledger.

You will be accountable for operating systems and infrastructure controls across the entire lifecycle of the business including reconciliation of payroll, and balance sheet, balance sheet substantiation and manual accounting / bookings to the GL, and operating systems and the month and year end close process & coordination.

As the Financial Controller you will be accountable for weekly and month end close PL reconciliation and balance sheet substantiation, as well as reporting controls, and the month end close process and coordination.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accuracy and validity of line of business general ledger balance sheet accounts, including adherence to the firmwide General Ledger Attestation (GLA) standards
  • Analyze, communicate, and resolve variances between the general ledger.
  • Work closely with managers on invoicing, billing and collections.
  • Understand the end-to-end flow of client transactions.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of line of business income statement and balance sheet at month, quarter, and year-ends
  • Engage in line of business initiatives and projects, be the financial control subject matter expert and have the ability to proactively identify process and/or infrastructure enhancements and work with stakeholders to enact change.
  • Control post-closing entries and consolidation adjustments and perform various control procedures to ensure the integrity of reported financial results.
  • Enhance the overall control environment around the financial reporting function and mobilize change wherever possible in order to simplify processes, enhance controls and create efficiencies.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Capabilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • 5-10 years hands on experience in private industry.
  • Multi-State General Ledger and tax filing experience
  • Experience with financial reporting and month end close responsibilities
  • Comfortable liaising with business and risk managers
  • Able to understand business drivers and requirements and influence stakeholders to deliver solutions to business issues and problems
  • Strong analytical skills: Ability to quickly understand workings of a complex processing system and general ledger systems across the infrastructure and their interrelationships and dependencies
  • Excellent desktop/spreadsheet/database skills and excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to multi-task in a constantly changing environment and the ability to critically challenge with the goal of identifying control issues.
