Job Description
The Heating and Air Conditioning Installer is responsible for installing HVAC systems in residential and light commercial applications, ensuring efficient and safe operation. This includes installing new equipment, components, and ductwork and ensuring that the systems meet Doc Dancer’s standards and code requirements and perform to specifications. The ideal candidate should have technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent customer service abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC) following company standards and local building codes.
- Install various types of HVAC equipment, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless systems, boilers, and ventilation units.
- Install and seal ductwork, electrical connections, refrigerant lines, and other associated components.
- Perform testing to ensure the proper functioning of the systems, including pressure and performance tests.
- Collaborate with the install manager, customers, general contractors, and other trade professionals to complete installations.
- Follow all installation safety protocols and procedures to protect clients, property, and yourself.
- Provide excellent customer service, including answering questions and explaining the system to homeowners.
- Ensure that job sites are clean and orderly before leaving the premises.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, including start checklist, photos, and materials used.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose any issues that arise during installation and provide solutions.
- Demonstrate willingness to accept responsibility and leadership roles.
- Availability for on-call some evenings and weekends.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school training is a plus.
- Proven experience (4 years preferred) in HVAC installation or related field.
- Hold a Journeyman card with the Allen County, IN Building Dept.
- Hold an EPA certification for handling refrigerants.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Drug screening and Background checks are required.
- Knowledge of local building codes and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Familiarity with a variety of HVAC systems and installation techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in tight spaces, including attics and crawl spaces.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
- Must be able to work on ladders, rooftops, and in confined spaces.
