Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Administration and Human Resources, the Payroll/Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for all aspects of the Payroll & Human Resources Office in accordance with policies established by the Board of Trustees, State of Kansas, federal laws and procedures developed for the Human Resources Office.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

- Administer basic Payroll/HR office procedures, following applicable DCCC policies and procedures, State and Federal law.
- Process employee time records through automated time keeping system and track employee leave accruals.
- Prepare and distribute payroll checks and disbursements.
- Process payment of applicable taxes and payroll deductions.
- Compile and prepare all government, tax and fringe benefit reports.
- Balance and process annual W2 statements and associated forms (1095C’s, etc.).
- Assist employees with payroll questions and transactions.
- Complete all routine and non-routine assignments and other unscheduled payroll transactions.
- Provide reports as requested by the Assistant Vice President of Administration and Human Resources for varying governing entities (ie. Board of Trustees, auditors, state reporting, etc.).
- Process payroll deduction checks and complete accounts payable transactions to pay payroll vendors.
- Provide assistance to employees and students in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Assist with onboarding and orientation of all new employees.
- Direct data entry functions of all new hires.
- Verify I-9 and maintain I-9 information on new employees.
- Assure that all employees complete the Bloodborne Pathogen training; as appropriate track Hepatitis vaccinations of employees with Ford County Health Department; and prepare requisitions for payment of vaccine.
- Assist with the maintenance of personnel records for present and former employees.
- Assist with employment verifications upon request.
- Oversee and process all student work study applications, paperwork, and onboarding.
- Recommend revisions to Board policies to the AVP of Admin and HR and coordinate employee awareness of revisions.
- Assist the AVP of Admin and HR revise procedures, employee handbook, personnel forms and other human resources related documents.
- Assist with hosting bi-annual HR/Payroll campus trainings.
- Assist with monitor Family Medical Leave Act and College policies with respect to matters related to time and attendance.
- Prepare letters, memos and other documents and others as requested.
- Maintain office personnel files by filing all paperwork promptly.
- Attend staff meetings and training as requested by the AVP of Admin and HR.
- Maintain an adequate supply of office supplies and prepare requisitions when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Administration/Human Resources.

Required Qualifications
- High School/GED
- One to two years of work experience with computerized payroll and payroll functions (including payroll and governmental tax reporting)
- Data entry experience, accuracy, speed, detail oriented, superior organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines, ability to reconcile reports
- Proficient use of data bases
- High level of composition and keyboarding and ten key skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree or certificate
- Two years of computerized accounts receivable or accounts payable experience
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now or other related HRIS/Payroll systems.

- Data entry activities requires keyboarding and sitting for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds.
- Ability to speak clearly and audibly to students in person and on the telephone.
- Ability to stretch, bend, stoop, and kneel as required to perform the duties of this position.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
