Job Description – Communications Associate
Dodge & Cox is a global investment management firm focused on institutional, intermediary, and individual clients. The firm is led by investment professionals whose primary responsibility is finding long-term investment opportunities, rooted in its value-oriented approach to active management. We focus on a small number of investment strategies that we strive to execute very well. Our business has grown primarily through referrals based on our reputation for excellence, and we’ve never paid for advertising or had a traditional sales or distribution team.
Our Communications Department has primary responsibility for delivering on a content and stakeholder engagement strategy that supports the firm’s overall efforts to preserve and enhance its strong reputation in the industry, build its brand in select markets outside the United States, sharpen its relevance through differentiated content that brings our investment team’s perspectives in focus, and extends our reach across digital channels. Working in close partnership with Investment, Client Service, Legal and Operations teams, the Communications team helps the firm engage effectively with its clients across a range of market segments, stakeholder groups, and communications channels.
To support our overall goals, the team is seeking a Communications Associate, an entry-level position that will contribute to:
- Refining and implementing a cohesive messaging framework that engages our stakeholders effectively across all internal and external communications platforms and channels the strength of the Dodge & Cox brand.
- Supporting the articulation of our investment strategies with a particular focus on digital content and engagement strategies, as well as supporting the firm’s broader Client Service efforts.
- Collaborating with department colleagues and members of investment teams to tailor compelling investment perspectives and timely, shorter insight pieces that illustrate the firm’s intellectual capital and reinforce firm’s value proposition for digital media (including social channels).
- Producing quarterly client and consultant communications and semi-annual and annual reports for Funds and UCITS clients that meet applicable regulatory requirements.
- Assisting with development and management of department-wide production calendars and schedules for all projects, connecting the dots on quarterly communications, Insights in Focus (investment perspectives), and key projects designed to engage other stakeholders.
- Partnering with the firm’s Human Capital team to develop written and video content that supports virtual and on-campus recruitment efforts.
- Partnering with the firm’s Legal and Compliance departments to implement regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with marketing and advertising rules.
- Compiling and analyzing metrics, and creating robust analytical tools that measure the effectiveness of content, strengthen understanding of how clients, consultants, financial advisors, and other intermediaries engage with us, and build predictive insights to inform our content strategy.
- Providing ongoing project management support for a broad range of ongoing and ad-hoc projects.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Holds a B.S. or B.A. degree with an excellent academic record .
- Demonstrates a strong interest in the global investment management industry, especially emerging markets.
- Fosters a passion for communications as a way to develop relationships and further their effectiveness through continuous improvement and test-and-learn methods.
- Demonstrates strong writing and oral communications skills.
- Possesses strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Combines a practical outcomes-oriented mindset with creativity and fresh thinking.
