Dishwasher/Food Prep

Job Overview

The Dishwasher is responsible for assisting the Kitchen Manager with some meal prep, serving meals and then the clean-up of the kitchen and dishes following meals. The Dishwasher also checks and restocks the bathrooms in the dining hall. The Dishwasher will be under the oversight of the Kitchen Manger but ultimately to the Dogwood Acres Director. This position is often the public face of Dogwood Acres (DWA) and requires a pleasant personality and friendly social skills.

Retreats and camps range from 20 – 80 campers and include all ages, genders, and abilities. We are a welcoming and affirming Christian camp, rooted in Presbyterian theology. We welcome people of all walks of life and faith traditions at Dogwood Acres.

Compensation:

All employees are paid twice a month, on the 15th and the 30th.

-Dishwasher is paid $16. an hour for time worked.

**Note: There are hours in-between meals where the kitchen is closed until it is time to begin preparing for the next meal. Close proximity to the camp is ideal or a staff break space will be provided.

Retreat Season and Summer Camp:

Dogwood Acres is a year-round camp. During the summer months we host 5 weeks of camp or camp related programs. The retreat season is primarily weekend retreats, with some exceptions. There are some months when we do not have any retreats on the schedule. Other months we are full every weekend. A schedule will be given to all employees following summer camp season and will be updated monthly for employees.

A typical weekend retreat has a first meal at Saturday breakfast (8:00 AM) and a last meal on Sunday at breakfast. There are variations in retreat group needs where occasionally we serve a Friday evening meal (6:00 PM) or a Sunday lunch (Noon).
