Job Description: Cloud Engineer
Job Purpose:
As a Cloud Engineer, your role is to design, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure and services. You will work closely with development teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation and optimization of cloud environments. Your responsibilities will include architecture design, implementation, and partnering with Operations for ongoing maintenance of cloud solutions.
Duties:
· Work with cloud engineering staff, develop team members, and implement best practices and procedures.
· Design, deploy, and manage scalable and highly available cloud infrastructure on GCP
· Work with developers, data scientists, and business leads to ensure that our cloud environment meets their requirements
· Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost, and security
· Develop and implement automation tools and processes for cloud infrastructure management
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure
· Monitor cloud infrastructure performance and implement improvements as needed
· Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and best practices
· Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents as needed
· Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud infrastructure with other systems and services
· Enforce company and industry security standards ensuring SOX and PCI compliance
· Work within the framework of change control and trouble ticket system
· Responsible for the cloud disaster recovery design and execution utilizing best practices
Required Skills:
· 3 years of experience in designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure on GCP or Azure or OCI
· Strong knowledge of services such as Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, and BigQuery type technologies
· Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Puppet
· Experience with containerization technologies such as GKE
· Knowledge of networking concepts such as DNS, TCP/IP, and load balancing
· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
· Strong ability to multi-task and work independently
· Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
Minimum Education Level and Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical disciple or commensurate experience (8 years) in IT Infrastructure roles
· GCP, Azure, OCI certifications such as Associate Cloud Engineer, Professional Cloud Architect
· Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD, version control, and testing
· Familiarity with AWS is a plus
