What are the responsibilities and job description for the Support Advocate/Prevention Educator position at Domestic Harmony?
Survivor Advocate
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary Range: $35,310 - $42,300 with paid sick days, vacation time
Duties and specific tasks Provide supportive advocacy to victims of domestic/sexual violence and their children, provide individual support to residential, non-residential, and phone clients; advocate for clients in their contacts with other agencies, write reports of all client interactions and activities; maintain statistics as required by funding source; fulfill specific tasks specified in annual grant. Provide Community education. Provide case management to residential clients. Attend staff meetings as required. Provide daily maintenance tasks for the functioning of the shelter, Provide occasional coverage for volunteer shortages, evenings, Holidays and weekends. Perform duties as assigned by Executive Director
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Psychology preferred or in process of working towards Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field. Experience with domestic violence victims, sexual assault victims, working with children and parents; knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence; successful completion of required training. Ability to work well with child and adult survivors in a supportive, caring way. Proficient with data entry. Crisis intervention and advocacy experience.
