Description:

Job Summary: Energy and Green Building Consultants/Verifiers are responsible for conducting energy benchmarking, energy audits, energy modeling and/or green building verification for multifamily apartments. Looking for candidates in Detroit, Michigan, Columbus, Ohio, Cleveland, Ohio, and surrounding areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze utility data for energy and water benchmarking
  • Follow corporate energy audit process and leverage corporate tools to analyze energy efficiency and water efficiency measures.
  • Produce ASHRAE Level 2 Energy Audits to comply with various financing requirements
  • Inspect properties to collect data for Energy Audits and/or Green Building Verification. Completes property site inspections based upon deadlines and budgetary goals. Responsible for professional and timely communication with clients, developers, and property owners.
  • Develop Energy Models of multifamily apartments and produce reports highlighting energy-efficiency opportunities, energy benchmarking and green financing compliance.
  • Communicates effectively with management regarding project and/or site-specific issues.
  • Arranges travel requirements to support completion of assigned projects. Ensures timely completion and submittal of expense forms.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, sustainability or similar courses of study is preferred. Candidates that do not possess a degree must have substantially the same knowledge level gained through a combination of work experience and technical instruction.
  • Preferred past work experience includes, but is not limited to: green building consulting and verification, energy auditing, energy modeling, construction project management, construction supervision, general contractors and licensed trade professionals.
  • Excellent writing skills and strong computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft office, specifically excel, word, and outlook).
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to evaluate data / information carefully and to solve problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Ability to collaborate well with various teams
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, and willingness to learn.
  • Preferred RESNET Home Energy Rater (HERS) certification and/or mix of Energy and Green Building Credentials such as BPI-MFBA, BPI-HHE, AEE-CEA, AEE-CEM, ASHRAE-BEMP, NGBS Green Verifier, LEED-AP, EarthCraft Technical Advisor, etc.
  • Preferred energy modeling experience (e.g. residential dwelling unit) with REM/Rate or Ekotrope software. Commercial and/or whole-building modeling is a plus.
  • Preferred Experience with performing building diagnostics such as blower door, duct leakage and combustion safety testing.
  • Preferred ASHRAE Level I/II energy auditing experience.
  • A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record required.

Working Conditions: Position requires occasional travel within the United States, including by airplane.

Physical requirements:

  • The position requires occasional overnight travel.
  • Ability to climb, balance, kneel, crawl, and lift.
  • Ability to work on ladders.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move 50 pounds unassisted.
