What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Director position at Domus Pacis Family Respite?
Reports to the Board President and Board of Directors and is responsible for the organization's consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives.
Mission:
- Domus Pacis Family Respite (DPFR) offers cancer patients and families, respite stays in Summit County, Colorado to ease the physical, financial, and emotional hardships they experience with a cancer diagnosis. Founded in 2008, DPFR has made tremendous impact thanks to our staff, volunteers, and donors. Since then, DPFR has provided
respites for over 2,000 families which equates to over 9,000 family members served.
- In 2025, DPFR will provide respites to approximately 130 families and 750 family members whose lives have been forever impacted by cancer.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the board of directors to achieve the entity’s goals and leverage
Board member experience and resources to fulfill the organization’s mission.
- Develop and execute strategic, organizational and financial plans, and policies.
- Maintain official records and documents, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
- Ensure the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, community outreach and communication.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with key organizations (including churches,
property managers, healthcare referral partners) and leverage those partnerships to strategically enhance the mission.
- Enhance DPFR’s image as the entity’s primary spokesperson by being active and visible
in the community and working closely with professional, media, civic, and private organizations.
- Develop and implement the annual fundraising plan (individual donors, foundations, alumni families, community members, corporations, board members, referral partners via capital campaigns and grant solicitations) necessary to support the mission and budget.
- Build and maintain relationships with financial/home donors and alumni families, through consistent outreach and communication.
- Manage and analyze relevant data regarding donors, gifts and giving trends.
- Coordinate and manage all fund-raising events (particularly summer concert) and follow-up capital campaigns to attendees.
- Responsible for the fiscal integrity of DPFR, including submission to the Board (in
coordination with the Board Treasurer) of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements accurately reflecting the financial condition of the organization
- Responsible for fiscal management that anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures efficient resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
- Implement and manage policies and procedures for all functions and day-to-day operations in order to achieve respite goals.
- Attract and retain personnel needed to fulfill the mission and objectives.
- Ensure staff are fully utilized, regular performance evaluations are held, and sound human resource practices are in place.
- Sign all leases, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and
on behalf of the organization, in coordination with the Board President or Treasurer.
- Work with outside accountants to produce monthly financial statements and annual 990 tax form.
- Manage home inventory needed to achieve respite goals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with various healthcare referral organizations to secure delivery of respite goals.
- Create/manage graphic design needs (brochures, posters, rack cards, flyers, digital ads, print ads).
- Manage DPFR website content and updates.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 yr college degree
- Non-profit experience
- Management experience
- Financial management (P&L) and budgeting experience
- Fundraising experience
- Technical literacy (CRM/database mgt, Google/MS product suites, social media management)
- Summit County CO residency (not a remote position)

Salary Range and Benefits
Base salary: $75,000 to $100,000, based on experience level.
