JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the class is to enforce County litter and nuisance ordinances; to provide technical interpretation of regulations to the citizens as needed; to promote the high quality of life and maintain property value; to prepare and maintain all required documentation; and to perform related work as required. This class works according to some procedures but decides how or when to do things; work is reviewed regularly by supervisor.
Special Qualifications:
Must possess a valid state driver's license.Must possess or be able to obtain Level Three Class Law Enforcement and Firearm Certifications within one year of hire date.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Patrols County areas to identify violations of litter and nuisance codes and ordinances; identifies violations of illegal dump sites, noise control and/or unsafe housing codes and ordinances.
• Digs through trash dump sites looking for evidence for prosecution purposes.
• Cleans up dump site when violators cannot be located.
• Receives and investigates complaints from County residents regarding potential ordinance violations.
• Performs traffic stops for code enforcement.
• Conducts field inspections as necessary to identify violations; sets up and utilizes surveillance equipment in the woods to try and identify violators.
• Prepares inspection reports; prepares and issues notices of correction and/or citations.
• Explains, interprets and provides guidance regarding applicable codes and compliance requirements to staff and the public.
• Follows up on each case to verify corrections have been made to comply with codes; conducts reinspections.
• Prepares cases for prosecution in the event of non-compliance; testifies in court as necessary.
• Collects and records various fees and fines.
• Maintains a variety of logs and records related to inspection and enforcement activities.
• Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests for assistance regarding areas of responsibility.
• Performs general clerical work as required, including preparing reports, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, attending meetings, etc.
• Attends training, seminars, meetings, etc., to enhance job knowledge and skills and maintain certifications.
• Performs other related job duties as assigned.
