GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Finance & Asset Management Associate’s multifaceted responsibilities are to assist in all aspects of the underwriting and capital market’s process, including portfolio and asset management, capital transaction due diligence, financial modeling, lender/partner reporting, property valuation analysis, lease analysis and special projects. Through the role, the Associate will work closely with all departments within the organization, including Accounting, Leasing, Construction and Property Management.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all aspects capital markets transaction, including initial underwriting, preparation of financing/investment memoranda, correspond with Lenders/Investors and oversight of the due diligence process from outset through closing.
- Coordinate Lender reporting and requests, including periodic financial statement reporting and other requirements as presented.
- Process and monitor all reserve and escrow accounts, including placing and tracking reserve draws, monitoring and assessing account balances for release of funds and ensuring compliance with lender requirements.
- Review and monitor the ongoing financial performance, leasing and capital programs for a portfolio of properties as managed internally or by third-party property management teams.
- Prepare financial analysis for prospective acquisitions and development opportunities, including utilizing ARGUS and excel models, coordinating information from all company departments (construction, property management, leasing, etc).
- Track mortgage portfolio, including updating outstanding balances, payment information, escrow/reserve information, new financing activities and other necessary information.
- Provide periodic operational updates to senior management that focus on opportunities to add value to the portfolio and identify potential risks or threats that could erode value; and,
- Manage property-level cash, project and recommend appropriate property-level contributions and distributions.
QUALIFICATIONS OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES:
- Undergraduate degree with a concentration in finance and/or real estate.
- 3 years of experience in commercial real estate.
- Detail oriented and self-motivated.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills to include proficiency in ARGUS and Excel.
- Strong entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to manage multiple transactions. Enjoy working in a fast-paced, informal, fluid environment with changing priorities.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills; and,
- Prior knowledge/experience in the DC commercial real estate marketplace highly desired.
