General Summary
The Network Manager is a critical leadership role within the Information Technology department, responsible for the overall planning, design, implementation, maintenance, and security of the credit union’s network infrastructure. This includes LAN/WAN, wireless networks, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, Virtualization, BCP/DR and other network-related technologies. This role ensures the network's stability, security, and performance, supporting the organization’s mission-critical operations and regulatory compliance requirements.
Essential Functions
- Oversee the design, implementation, and management of networking infrastructure and services, including LANs, WANs, network segments, and Internet systems.
- Ensure network performance by monitoring and analyzing network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
- Develop and enforce network policies and procedures, ensuring network integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards.
- Manage a network team, providing guidance and leadership to achieve departmental goals.
- Coordinate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for network systems, ensuring business continuity.
- Keep abreast of new technologies and trends in network solutions, proposing and implementing enhancements to improve service quality.
- Prepare and manage the budget for network hardware, software, and other resources.
- Conduct regular network audits to assess performance and compliance.
- Provide reports and updates to senior management on network status, upgrades, and developments.
- Set expectations and standards for the timely delivery of quality work products.
- Establish development standards for the team and generate reports on teams’ performance metrics and KPIs.
- Compliance with NCUA, FFIEC, NIST, CISA
- Enforce change management standards, reports, and tracking where relevant.
- Optimize processes to enhance team productivity and service quality.
- Collaborate with other departments to align IT support with organizational goals and needs.
- Plan and conduct quarterly performance appraisals of direct reports.
- Ensure appropriate training initiatives for new and existing team members.
Requirements
Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
- 5 years of experience in network administration or management.
- Certifications such as MCSE, CCNP, GCP/AWS/Azure, ISACA, CCA-N/V, NCA/NCP, MCI, VCP-NV or similar would be advantageous.
- Experience with cloud networking technologies.
- Knowledge of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of networking technologies, including TCP/IP, VPN, VoIP, DNS, and SIP.
- Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools.
- Solid understanding of network security protocols and implementations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.

- Experience working on multiple projects and tasks concurrently
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
