Down South CaJJun Eats is a popular southern-style cajun restaurant in the heart of Central Texas/Pflugerville. We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Kitchen Manager to join our team. Their main duties will include coordinating and supervising a restaurant’s kitchen staff according to food safety standards. This new addition to our team will be in charge of hiring, training, and scheduling Cooks, performing quality control on food leaving the kitchen, and ordering inventory to keep up with our restaurant's demand.

Kitchen Manager Responsibilities:

  • Manage the kitchen staff and workflow to ensure all orders are prepared to the highest standard and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all menu items are prepared according to recipe and presentation standards.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and order supplies when needed.
  • Monitor food and labor costs to ensure compliance with targets.
  • Hire and train new kitchen staff and provide guidance and coaching to existing staff.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and sanitation standards.
  • Continuously seek to improve processes and quality.

Kitchen Manager Qualifications:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a kitchen management role.
  • Excellent knowledge of cajun cuisine and techniques.
  • Strong cooking skills and experience in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of food and labor costs and experience in budgeting and inventory management.
  • Flexible schedule and availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Down South CaJJun Eats was founded by twin brothers Jahmaal and Jermaine Dumes in the Spring of 2017. While Studying at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX they decided to take a leap of faith. Originally from Beaumont, TX they felt a tremendous part of their lives were missing in Austin. And that was Crawfish!

Coming from a family of cooks, they’ve always dreamed of starting a restaurant in their home state. With the help and support of family and friends, they were able to make this dream come alive.

Salary : $50,000 - $75,000
