What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Biller position at Downstate Ophthalmology?
Looking for a full time EXPERIENCED medical biller/collector. COLLECTION EXPERIENCE IS A MUST. Applicant needs to understand medical claim processing, reimbursement, audits, and reports in connection to different types of medical insurances (Medicare, commercial insurances, and Secondary insurance). Must be proficient with ICD-10, CPT coding. Knowledge of medical correspondence (letter to patients, appeal letters, application filling out, and so on).Understanding of current medical rules and regulations is also necessary.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews medical record documentation to identify all services provided by physicians
- Assigns appropriate CPT-4 procedure code(s) to accurately report the physician services provided to patients
- Assigns appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis code(s) to accurately support the need for each physician service
- Submission of billing data electronically and on paper.
- Obtains and submits copies of medical documentation with physician charges to support billing to third-party payers
- Identifies services provided, but not adequately documented in the medical record. Advises supervisor of deficiencies to support charge of all billing services
- Analyzes and resolves physician claim rejects and denials from the billing system or insurance carriers related to coding issues
- Assists with physician billing and documentation training in daily interactions with physicians and other routine training sessions
Education and Experience:* High school diploma or GED required
- Experience with ADS System a PLUS!
Hours: Monday – Friday 9am- 5pm
