The Java developer will be supporting the Associate Experience pillar, specifically Health & Wellness.
Technical Fit:
- Java expertise is required
- Experience with REST APIs is important; OpenAPI/Swagger is a bonus, not a must
- Cloud experience (Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or AWS) is a plus
- Healthcare experience or familiarity with compliance (HIPAA, PII) is a bonus
They will be supporting two key initiatives within H&W:
1. Centralized Consent Management Platform - A new platform that standardizes patient and guardian medical consent rules across the organization.
- Replaces inconsistent, app-specific logic with a centralized system
- Applies rules like age-based consent and guardian requirements
- Improves compliance, accuracy, and development efficiency
2. Communications Middleware Layer - A "traffic cop" system for managing outbound patient messages.
- Prevents redundant messages (e.g., one parent getting 4 notifications for 4 prescriptions)
- Groups related alerts and enforces opt-out preferences across profiles
- Enhances the overall patient messaging experience and reduces noise
Job Description
We're seeking a mid-level Java developer to join a collaborative team working on two high-impact healthcare applications:
- A centralized consent management platform to standardize patient/guardian consent logic across systems in the Health & Wellness space.
- A communications middleware layer that improves outbound messaging experiences, preventing duplicate notifications and enforcing global opt-out settings.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- 5 years of experience in Java development (JavaScript is a bonus)
- 2 years of experience deploying to cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or AWS)
- 3 years working with REST APIs (design, creation, consumption); familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger is a plus, not a requirement
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and JIRA
- Experience working in secure environments (e.g., HIPAA, PII, PCI compliance)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of scalable backend systems using Java
- Build and consume REST APIs in a secure, performant environment
- Support cloud-native application development on Azure (or equivalent cloud)
- Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies
- Ensure quality and maintainability of code through best practices and peer review
- Help troubleshoot and resolve production issues as needed
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support a high-quality user experience
