Hours: Mon-Fri from 8am-4pm
10 month position (follows school calendar)
35 hours per week
PTO hours to be used for RIDE school vacation/breaks
A typical day for a RIDE Pre-K Teacher's Assistant will include:
- Working as a team with the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, healthy, structured, welcoming space to grow and learn.
- Singing, dancing, playing, teaching!
- Inspiring children to be lifelong learners.
- Partnering with families to nurture and care for their children.
- Showcasing your tech savvy skills by using an electronic daily tracking app.
- Assisting with the accreditation process as well as other quality initiatives.

Requirements
We are willing to train the right person! Our ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working with children in a group setting.
We are looking for someone who has the following skills:
- A personal demeanor that is warm and friendly.
- Verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and reading skills.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Organized and able to prioritize and multi-task.
- Team-oriented and willing to work with others.
Education Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Option 1: *Successful completion of a Teacher Assistant Training Program approved by the RI Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Option 2: *Minimum of 12 credit hours of college coursework relevant to the early childhood education program
- Option 3: *Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential PLUS nine (9) credit hours of college coursework relevant to the early childhood education program setting
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
Certifications/Experience
- At least 1 year working in an early learning/child care center.
- Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) certification preferred.
- Knowledge of Teaching Strategies and/or Conscious Discipline preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Able to engage in physical exercise with children (walking, running, crawling, bending, twisting).
- Visual and hearing acuity.
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Other Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- Able to read, write, speak and understand English, bilingual encouraged to apply.
- Must pass national criminal background/fingerprints check.
- Must pass Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Clearance Request (CPS).
