Position Summary:
The Program Coordinator will join the Dream Youth Clinic multidisciplinary team which provides holistic wrap-around services for youth ages 13-25 years old. This role requires the ability to take initiative, multi-task, communicate effectively, and support staff in providing youth-led programming for our clients particularly young men and youth using substances. At Dream we believe in youth-led, adult guided collaboration and are committed to "meeting youth where they are" and assisting them along their journey to wellness in an open and non-judgmental way.
The Program Coordinator will lead the coordination, planning, and delivery of selected Dream Youth Clinic’s Youth Programming including our Young Men's group for Black and Brown male identified youth living in Oakland, along with other health related youth programs. The Program Coordinator ensures all program, eligibility and enrollment activities meet compliance requirements. They will work directly with Dream staff members, supervisors, community partners, budgets, and procedures to ensure the implementation and success of the selected programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support direct service staff in design, implementation, and delivery of programs that coordinator is leading.
- Lead the coordination and organization of each program’s initiatives, activities, and deliverables.
- Ensure integration of programs into other programs and activities at Dream Wellness Center and across Dream’s three clinic locations and in the community (if applicable).
- Collaborate with and serve as an organizational liaison/point of contact with community partners for respective programs.
- Coordinate and support Dream Youth Interns who are working in Coordinator’s respective programs.
- Work with Dream staff members, supervisors, and community partners to ensure the implementation and success of respective programs.
- Work with other Dream Youth Clinic team members to support and execute community tabling events relevant to Coordinator’s respective program.
- Co-facilitate respective program group sessions.
- Work collaboratively with Dream Youth Clinic partners.
- Ensure all program, eligibility and enrollment activities meet compliance requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate data is submitted externally as well as for internal reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with local and national organizations to increase networking opportunities and program visibility.
- Maintain all related relationships with community-based and neighborhood organizations.
- Accurately report and input attendance at all Dream program activities for which providing coordination.
- Contribute to generating grant/contract reports.
- Present program work at local and national meetings/conferences.
- Attend department and staff meetings and trainings, as necessary.
Competencies:
- Bachelor'’s degree in health sciences, social sciences, public health, business administration, public administration, social work, or related field
- 2 years’ experience working in a non-profit organization, community clinic, or youth organization.
- At least 2 years of experience working with youth. Work with Black boys, Black youth, youth of color, LGBTQ youth, sex trafficked youth and other youth who have been marginalized, preferred.
- Experience in substance use prevention, advocacy, youth justice is a plus.
- Experience working with marginalized youth populations locally, including communities of color preferred.
- Cultural congruence with the Dream Youth Clinic patient population.
- Enjoy working with diverse youth (cultural, linguistic, and gender diversity).
- Ability to take initiative to start, implement, and complete tasks.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to incorporate creativity and forward thinking in working with youth.
- Trained/willing to receive training in substance use prevention, positive youth development, advocacy/ activism, and youth human trafficking.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively in team settings.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Valid California Driver License with safe driving record and access to reliable independent transportation.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both professional and non-professional, co-workers, management personnel, the public and others.
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.
- Clear and effective external and internal, verbal and written, communication skills.
- Strong critical thinker and problem solver who can successfully build and lead an execution strategy from a long-term vision.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to learn and utilize the internal electronic medical record.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
Physical Conditions and other Requirements:
- Frequent standing, stair climbing, bending, stooping, lifting (20 lbs. max).
- Gross and fine manual dexterity.
- Ability to visually observe staff and youth to understand and interpret non-verbal behavior.
- Personal transportation required.
- Driving to various work locations.
- Ability to operate standard office machines and equipment including computers, computer software, copy machine, scanner, and keyboards.
