What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimating Manager position at DRP Collision?
Applicant should be familiar with vehicles and have a basic mechanical understanding. They should be able to talk to customers about the work needed, the repairs needed, the timeline it will require and be able to find parts needed for the repairs.
The Estimator will write estimates by going over all damage they see, by getting an understanding of what happened in the accident and they will give next steps to customers to get them back on the road.
The daily role will include writing walk-in and scheduled estimates and handling vehicles assigned to them, that they will walk through the repair process. Please note, the job manager is responsible for the vehicle from the time the customer drops off the vehicle until they pick it up for delivery.
A typical repair process is: initial drop off inspection of the vehicle, checking it in and getting initial photos, going with the vehicle during disassembly to understand all hidden damage, writing for the hidden damage, contacting both the customer and insurance handler to go over hidden damage, then ordering parts, sending the vehicle to body repair, paint repair, reassembly, and detailing. The job handler will then do the final inspection and coordinate pick up times with the customer.
They meet with the shop manager daily to go over vehicle statuses on all assigned jobs and they will problem solve daily to keep their vehicles on track for initial quoted completion date.
