What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Chef position at Dryden Central School District?
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working as the District Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment for the staff. You will prepare or direct the preparation of meals in accordance with the district's programs and Child Nutrition/USDA guidelines. The District Chef will collaborate with a team to include the Director, to implement the division’s scratch cooking initiative and develop a curriculum to train existing employees the necessary tasks to implement this initiative. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, entrepreneurial Culinary professional.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must have a thorough knowledge of established food service standards and practices, and federal, state, and local regulations related to the school nutrition program.
- Must have experience training food service employees in food preparation, use of equipment, and food presentation techniques.
- Must have the ability to plan and supervise food preparation based on sound principals of nutrition, customer acceptability, and cost control; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities; ability to communicate effectively and professionally with the public, students, staff, and administrators in a tactful, considerate, and cooperative manner; ability to operate standard office computer software.
- Must have excellent organizational, decision-making, customer service, presentation, and verbal and written communication skills.

Pay: $60,000.00 per year
