Speech-Language Pathologist

Job Summary 

The Speech Language Pathologist will provide clinical and professional leadership at DS Therapies. The SLP will be responsible for the evaluation, re-evaluation, development, and implementation of a plan of care for students and clients. The SLP will work cooperatively with all members of DST and DSS to include students, clients, families, therapists, and administrators to support the development of those in our care, keeping in mind our mission. The SLP will report to the DS Therapies Director. 


Minimum Qualifications 

● Master Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required 

● CPR: Healthcare Provider 

● Florida license or provisional Florida licensure required. 

● Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) 

● Level 2 finger printing background 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

● Develops a Plan of Care outlining areas of deficit, target activity, context, assistance needed, functional, realistic and measurable goal(s) and/or status ongoing goal(s). 

● Implements individua speech therapy sessions. 

● Recommends and provides treatment based upon medical, clinical, functional, and observational findings. 

● Continually documents active and supportive education with the patient, parents, and others concerned, regarding progress, problems, home programs, and other issues related to the therapeutic process. 

● Maintains and documents productivity standards established in conjunction with the administration. 

● Records daily patient documentation, statistics, and charges according to DST standards. 

● Maintains ongoing continuing education to maintain professional licensure and clinical excellence. 

● Supervises assistants, rehabilitation aides, and others (i.e., interns/students) according to experience 

● Attend staff meetings as directed by the administration.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities 


● Ability to appropriately interact with students, patients, parents/guardians and other health care professionals in all work related situations. 

● Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing 

● Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information 

● Analytical ability necessary to evaluate patient condition, to interpret and analyze data, assess patient progress, and determine appropriate follow-up. 

● Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families and co-workers. 

● Ability to problem solve to formulate a plan of care and evaluate the patient's response to care. 

● Ability to interpret, adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions. 

● Oversee support staff to include interns and others as the school grows 


Physical Requirements/ Work Environment: 

● Bending and stooping, climbing, kneeling, lifting/carrying patients 35 pounds or greater, reaching, repetitive movements, running, sitting, squatting, standing, walking, handling blood and bodily fluid, latex, slippery surfaces, and keyboard entry 

Benefits 

Starting Amount: $63,000


● 50% of Social Security and Medicare 

● Worker’s Compensation 

● 10 days of vacation time 

● In addition, employee is entitled to 5 sick days during this contract 

● Holidays as identified in the clinic calendar are provided days off 

● Personal Development supported with consultation of DSS and DST Director (CEU $500 credit/ year)
