Job Title: Quality Inspector
Shift Schedule: Day Shift - Monday through Friday
Summary: Inspect incoming materials, first pieces, in process parts and finished goods; maintain appropriate records to comply with company and customer requirements with a strong emphasis on welding in a Job-Shop environment. We would prefer someone with a welding background and fabrication experience is a plus.
Responsibilities and duties include:
Job Title and Summary: CNC Machining Quality Inspector
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of manufactured parts using a variety of precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges).
- Interpret and work from complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Document inspection results accurately, generating Inspection Reports and maintaining quality records.
- Identify and report non-conforming materials or parts and participate in root cause analysis.
- Supplier incoming and first piece inspection.
- Production part approval process (PPAP)
- Supplier quality monitoring
Other Duties:
- Perform inspection of welds, MIG, TIG, Spot, Stud (Quality, adherence to print, technique).
- Perform First-Piece and In Process inspections as required to adhere to specifications and procedures in the job packets, travelers and Workmanship Manual.
- Inspect incoming raw materials
- Perform quality inspection from outside services and suppliers.
- Conduct final inspection of finished products to confirm all operations have been completed to job and customer specification
- Note any deviations/nonconformance’s and coordinate with the Project Managers and Supervisors.
- Fill out any documentation required for completion of job.
- Process scrap and nonconformance's.
- Make recommendations to streamline processes and work to educate operators on safe practices.
- Ensure accurate counts of parts.
- Maintain various inspection fixtures, gages, and measuring devices so appropriate measurements are made.
COMMUNICATION:
- Communicate daily with internal and external customers and suppliers via phone and email. It is critical that communication is clear and consistent.
- Must maintain an attitude of “I can do”.
Education or Certifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Four years’ experience in a fabrication position. May be a combination of schooling and on-the-job experience.
- Experience with all aspects of welding (Creation, Inspection, Testing). AWS Certification desired, but not mandatory.
Other Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
- Understand the concept of the blueprints and materials necessary.
- Exposure to automotive class finishes and what metal-preparation is required to achieve these finishes.
- Must be willing to take on challenges.
- Experience with ERP systems, such as Epicor
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Take on additional tasks to help the team achieve desired goals with little or no supervision.
- Understand how jobs must flow through the fabrication department
- Proactively engage in a working relationship with other members of the team
- Communication skills both verbally and written
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Able to lift 25 pounds or more daily and over 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to push or pull over 25 pounds daily or over 25 pounds occasionally
- Able to look for new ways of approaching ideas or tasks
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
