Summary
A Customs Specilist, Entry Writer is responsible for preparing and submitting customs declarations for imported goods to ensure they comply with regulations and meet import requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reviewing shipment documentation to determine customs requirements
Preparing and submitting customs declarations and related forms
Ensuring accurate calculation of duties, taxes and fees
Maintaining updated knowledge of customs regulations and procedures
Communicating with clients and customs authorities as needed
Resolving customs-related issues and handling disputes
Keeping records of customs transactions and maintaining a database of import/export information
Educational background / Work experience
Associates or bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. international trade, logistics) is preferred
1-3 years of experience in customs brokerage or related field
Skills & Competencies
Attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Familiarity with databases and record-keeping systems
Knowledge of international trade and customs regulations and procedures
Ability to analyze and interpret customs regulations and compliance requirements
Ability to resolve customs-related issues and handle disputes
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
