Mission

Location: Franklin, LA

To ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the DTE Orion facility. Provide front line contact with our customer, maintain communications, and build a solid relationship. Optimize financial results while meeting safety, environmental and company growth objectives. Guide continuous improvement of performance while maximizing customer engagement.

Job Summary

The person holding this position is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of a 30 MW Steam Turbine Generator along with major components of the Electrical Distribution system. This position will be responsible to perform a wide range of supervisory, business, and administrative activities and will direct Customer personnel in the daily performance of various operations and maintenance (O&M) functions.

Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, the employee exercises independent discretion and judgment within established policies, procedures and practices. Results are reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to these policies, procedures and practices.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of ten years of power industry or directly related industrial work experience, in conjunction with a minimum of five years in a management role providing direct leadership with associated responsibilities.

Other Qualifications

  • Professional operating experience with steam turbine generators is highly desired
  • Individuals with technical degrees will be given high priority
  • Demonstrated understanding of Turbine Generator O&M, plant engineering, contracts and general plant business functions
  • Strong Safety and Environmental leadership and management skills
  • Understanding of accounting, contract administration, human resources, procurement and other plant administration functions
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies that have jurisdiction over plant operations
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and direct varied and complex programs and tasks involved in the operation of the plant
  • Ability to motivate customer provided employees to perform at a high level of efficiency and quality
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to make sound, cost-effective judgments on day-to-day and long-term operational issues
  • Ability to efficiently balance competing priorities and tasks, remain organized, and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to analyze and communicate to senior management
  • Working knowledge of MS applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Extensive experience with computer-based PM programs and Internet
  • Ability to perceive and analyze problems, develop alternatives, and make or recommend sound decisions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels

The employee in this classification will be required to frequently lift objects of up to 25 pounds in weight. Occasionally the employee will have to lift or move objects of up to 25 pounds in weight.

Vision requirements for this position include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.


Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works at a plant site. In the course of working at the plant site, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, and may work near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may become loud at the plant site.
