About the Job
Dudek is seeking a hydrogeologist for our Santa Barbara office to join our Hydrogeology/HazWaste group. Our hydrogeologists, hydrologists, and engineers assist agencies and landowners with a variety of tasks including groundwater basin studies, water resource development, stormwater regulatory compliance, soil and groundwater contamination assessment, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) technical studies, Water Supply Assessments, and Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) compliance.
This position is anticipated to be in the Santa Barbara Office, but other locations may be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct or assist with hydrogeology-related field-work which may include groundwater assessments, groundwater/soil sampling, groundwater production or monitoring well construction, and surveys.
- Conduct or assist with environmental remediation-related field-work, which may include Phase I and Phase II site assessments, soil sampling, and groundwater sampling.
- Assist with SGMA implementation and compliance, annual reports, and periodic updates.
- Conduct or assist with Watershed and Storm Water Plans and related field work.
- Prepare documents related to stormwater management and assist in implementation of stormwater permits.
- Prepare or assist with preparation of various hydrogeologic and hydrologic reports.
- Collect, evaluate, and analyze hydrogeologic data. Prepare reports in various graphical and written formats.
Potential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work across disciplines, with Dudek Planners and other experts, to review and/or prepare water-related CEQA sections and technical studies.
- Conduct or assist with preparation of Water Supply Assessments
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, or similar field
- 3 experience in the field of hydrogeology, hydrology, or environmental engineering
- Experience performing hydrogeologic and/or hydrologic field work in accordance with industry standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Competence with Geographic Information Systems for analysis and display preparation.
- Ability to perform field work and work with subcontractors in construction-type settings.
- Experience with water well oversight, design and rehabilitation.
- Experience with soil and groundwater sampling.
- Professional California licensure in geology, engineering, or related field.
- Knowledge of CEQA/NEPA requirements and experience preparing water-related analyses, technical studies, responses to comments, and water supply assessments.
- Familiarity with Senate Bill 610 Water Supply Assessments and California Urban Water management Plans
- Strong analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills
