As the Plant Operator you will be responsible for overseeing setup, take down, production and maintenance of asphalt plant. This position also oversees the Plant Oiler.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely operates asphalt plant to production schedule using appropriate materials to achieve specified mix quality.
- Works with truck drivers delivering and picking up materials and mix at the plant.
- Performs daily inspections of plant for safety, maintenance, and repair needs.
- Works closely with Plant Oiler and other crew members to maintain plant by performing service and repairs as necessary.
- Reports service and repair needs to shop as necessary.
- Works closely with QM/QC to achieve required mix quality for projects.
- Keeps equipment clean and prepares plant for move when needed.
- Maintains orderliness, cleanliness and safety at jobsite.
- Follows supervisor’s instructions closely.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Understands mix design and plant operations.
- An ability to mentor, train and manage employees.
- Strong ability to problem solve quickly and as needed.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to work with variety of people and positions.
- An unwavering focus on safety.
- Willingness to travel throughout Central and Western Minnesota, Northern Iowa and Eastern Dakotas.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit.
- Work outside in all weather conditions.
- Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly work extended | overtime hours, outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions at all project locations.
- Travel is required.
