Job Description and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Transportation Manager, incumbent is responsible for providing transportation to Duncaster residents using the Duncaster vehicles as assigned.

In between transports, assignments will include delivering of packages or assisting other departments as needed. Performs all job responsibilities according to the Duncaster Policies and Procedures Handbook.

• Maintains a current CT driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Follows all State and Federal driving laws.
• With reasonable lead time makes every effort to come to work when asked.
• Is reliable and prompt when committed to the driving schedule.
• Performs a vehicle walk around prior to driving.
• Reports any operational difficulties or vehicle malfunctions immediately.
• Always fills gas tank when below half prior to putting away.
• Cleans vehicle of all debris prior to putting vehicle away and vacuums or takes care of car washes as needed.
• Turns off heater, AC, radio, lights, etc., prior to putting vehicle away.
• Reports promptly any accidents involving the vehicle or resident.
• Operates the vehicle according to The Transportation Guidebook.
• Adheres to detailed Resident-Transportation Pick-up guidelines.
• Follows Duncaster communication policy regarding cell phone use.
• Maintains positive feedback from transported residents.
• Uses sound judgment in determining best next location after delivering a resident.
• Carries a radio or cell phone to be in constant communication with the receptionist.
• Must complete and stay current on position required training.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Must have a High School education or equivalent, F Public Passenger Endorsement for a non-commercial license or an F , or P for CDL, and 1 year experience in related field required.
• Must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies / personnel and the general public.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
• Must be available for weekend assignments, day and evening or holidays.
• Must have basic knowledge of body mechanics (i. e. ability to assist in transfer of residents from wheelchair to vehicle), and ability to lift wheelchair into vehicle.

Hours

Per Diem - Availability needed for Days, Weekends, Holidays

Pay Rate

$17.00-$17.50 per hour
