Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of heavy machinery and equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, and trucks.
- Perform routine maintenance on industrial equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections.
- Utilize schematics to troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems effectively.
- Conduct repairs on transmissions, air brakes, suspension systems, and HVAC components.
- Operate heavy equipment as needed for testing and diagnostics.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on each piece of equipment.
- Collaborate with other service technicians to ensure high-quality customer service and timely completion of repairs.
- Fabricate parts or components as necessary using welding and other fabrication techniques.
- Assist in training junior mechanics or apprentices when required.
Skills
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment operation and repair.
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostics and vehicle maintenance practices.
- Strong mechanical knowledge including experience with diesel engine repair, brake repair, alignment, electrical, pump rebuild, cylinder rebuild and hydraulics.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment effectively.
- Experience with OEM parts and understanding of schematics for troubleshooting purposes.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during repairs or maintenance tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients regarding their equipment needs.
