The Company

Our client is a U.S.-based renewable energy investment firm focused on solar and storage. With a large-scale portfolio spanning operational and early-stage assets, they partner with developers to modernize infrastructure and accelerate the clean energy transition.


Role Overview

This role will be responsible for overseeing financial and commercial analysis related to new investment opportunities, including evaluation, underwriting, and detailed diligence across potential acquisitions and development-stage projects. The individual will play a central role in executing mergers and acquisitions and project financing transactions, working with internal stakeholders and external advisors as needed. The Senior Manager / Director is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy on sophisticated analyses and deal processes, while receiving strategic guidance and review from leadership.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with origination and business development teams to evaluate potential portfolio acquisitions, with significant responsibility for building, stress-testing, and refining complex financial models and assessing key risks and value drivers while managing counterparty interactions with internal support
  • Act as the primary transaction lead for acquisitions, owning and continuously updating portfolio-level financial models, leading seller meetings, managing diligence workstreams, negotiating transaction documentation, coordinating third-party advisors, and preparing detailed investment committee materials
  • Lead financial modeling and execution for select project finance and structured equity transactions, including building and maintaining debt and/or tax equity models, reviewing and negotiating financing agreements, and responding to lender and investor diligence requests
  • Own ongoing financial modeling for designated operating portfolios, partnering with asset management to keep models current, analyze performance trends, and identify emerging financial or operational risks
  • Mentor and develop junior acquisitions team members with a focus on financial modeling best practices, analytical rigor, and effective delegation of modeling and transaction responsibilities


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with an advanced degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred
  • Extensive hands-on experience owning, building, stress-testing, and auditing complex Excel-based financial models that directly inform investment decisions, including valuation, discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, and integrated financial statement models
  • Proven ability to manage complex transactions involving multiple internal teams, counterparties, and third-party advisors
  • Extensive experience in renewable energy investments or financings with a core focus on financial modeling, underwriting, and transaction analysis
  • Direct experience conducting asset-level due diligence and validating financial assumptions to ensure accuracy and completeness of investment analyses
  • Strong track record of developing clear, data-driven investment memoranda and presentation materials for senior leadership and external stakeholders
  • Prior experience with solar and/or energy storage projects strongly preferred
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights
  • Self-directed, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ownership of initiatives from initial concept through execution
  • Solid understanding of clean energy business models, project economics, and transaction structures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across senior leadership, peers, partners, and external stakeholders
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Ability to work in the office three days a week
