The Machinist plays a critical role in supporting a high-performance manufacturing environment by producing precision components that meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset. Machinists are expected to leverage their experience and craftsmanship to deliver exceptional results while contributing to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the shop floor.
Responsibilities:
- Program, operate, and edit CNC mills and lathes to manufacture high-precision parts.
- Set up machines using detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and job documentation to ensure efficient and accurate production runs.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineered drawings, and specifications to verify dimensional and quality requirements.
- Perform in-process and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision inspection tools.
- Deburr, finish, and inspect parts to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company and safety guidelines.
- Apply manual machining skills as required to support production needs.
- Collaborate with team members on troubleshooting, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and support apprentices and less-experienced machinists by sharing best practices and technical knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of CNC machining experience; strong manual machining backgrounds or candidates with relevant technical training and a willingness to learn will be considered.
- Journeyman papers required.
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and use precision inspection tools proficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for high-precision work.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications (e.g., NIMS) are a plus.
- Proven commitment to workplace safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
