Summary

The Supervisor, Museum Maintenance position performs a variety of intermediate level skills in general maintenance tasks, repairs, preventive maintenance, and custodial work and will lead the second shift building maintenance staff. This position includes complex duties that are performed with a greater degree of independence and leadership. This position works extensively with business operations and departments engaged in events and activities that take place within the museum including preparation, set-up, clean-up, and teardown. High standards of performance must be maintained on a continuous basis to maintain EAA standards and facilities.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all general maintenance duties and repairs as required on property maintained by EAA.
  • Supports and leads departmental maintenance programs and executes daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.
  • Responsible for coordinating and managing task of daily operations for maintenance staff that includes Maintenance levels I, II and III, activities throughout EAA’s facilities, adhering to EAA’s high standards of appearance for our staff, volunteers, members, and guest.
  • Maintains records related to buildings infrastructure, maintenance schedules, blueprints, and maintenance projects, personnel, events, and vendor pricing.
  • Performs management duties to include goal setting, appraising performance, creating a development plan for all direct reports.
  • Obtains prices with contractors, vendors, and outside agencies.
  • Coordinates scheduling of contracted services.
  • Coordinates procurement of maintenance related materials and supplies
  • Proactive in looking for ways to improve the process and efficiency of maintenance operations using industry best practices.
  • Promotes a safe working environment by holding self and staff accountable for following safety requirements.
  • Organizes, oversees, and conducts, set-up, clean-up, and tear down, of hosted events, and Air Venture taking place at EAA facilities.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication throughout the organization, concerning buildings and events.
  • Performs loading and unloading of vehicles and equipment.
  • Responds to emergency calls for the facilties.
  • Embraces and supports the EAA mission and performs safe practices in the workplace and aviation environment.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 or more years' experience in any or all of the following:
    • Building and general maintenance practices.
    • Standard tools and power tools.
    • Strong ability in planning, scheduling, and lead daily and short-term projects.
    • Cleaning chemicals and uses.
  • Valid driver’s license, CDL a plus.
  • Work varying schedules and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to follow all safety rules and regulations and enforce them.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Physical Requirements

Ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 75 lbs occasionally, standing and walking for extended periods of time while bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, push and pull motions. Work above ground on irregular surfaces. May have exposure to outside weather elements, noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, pesticides and/or fertilizers.
