Job Summary
Responsible for the overall management of the assigned nursing units, ensuring 24-hour, seven days per week, that effective patient care is being provided and that quality standards are met, as well as the development and supervision of nursing/clinical personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Promotes high level of quality patient care for all patients based on their needs and within available budgetary resources.
1. Responsible for the direct supervision the staff for assigned units.
2. Organizes, coordinates and evaluates nursing/clinical services.
3. In collaboration with the Director of Nursing/CNO responsible for developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies and procedures in keeping with Hospital’s mission, goals and philosophy.
4. Insures that nursing/clinical services are provided within the requirements and standards of regulatory agencies and professional standards.
5. Conducts rounds to all assigned nursing units and shifts on a regular basis. Weekend rounds to be done every weekend rotating weekends with other clinical managers.
6. Insures communication to and from nursing/clinical staff through regular meetings.
7. Completes evaluations of staff as required. Evaluates the performance of nursing/clinical staff assigned providing feedback and mentoring, developing education programs as needed, interviewing, hiring, performance management, counseling and termination of assigned staff as required.
8. Works collaboratively with the union.
9. Participates in budget process, including responsibility for departmental expenditures.
10. Reviews schedules, overtime usage, staff timesheets and time accruals to ensure the efficient use of staff resources. Reviews and approves timecards as required.
11. Interviews and selects new nursing/clinical staff. Provides onboarding of new staff and ensures that staff are properly trained.
12. In collaboration with Director of Nursing/CNO, develops and updates Nursing Department job descriptions, defining functions, responsibilities and qualifications.
13. Reports pertinent administrative issues to the Director of Nursing/CNO and other administrative departments as appropriate.
14. Represents the Nursing Department in interactions with other departments and the community.
15. Participates on appropriate committees and task forces.
16. Applies evidence based practices and nursing standards and is involved in other professional activities to support current knowledge and practice.
17. Develops, monitors and supports performance improvement activities. Collaboratively coordinates quality management, utilization review and discharge planning programs.
18. Maintains a professional, cooperative, courteous and respectful demeanor in all interactions with patients, visitors and staff.
19. Remains knowledgeable and up to date on all regulatory requirements.
20. Covers nursing supervisor as required, this may require day, evening and night coverage as needed.
21. Other duties as assigned.

1. Answer telephone calls promptly and professionally, stating to the caller “Eagleville Hospital” your name and department.
2. Assisting patients, family members and other customers with concern and empathy.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises the following positions: RN’s, LPN’s, Nursing Assistants; Mental Health Techs and EMT’s. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; Motivating and leading high-performance team; sharing of information and serving as a mentor.

Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN, master’s preferred.
Qualifications
Current Pennsylvania State License (RN). Minimum of three years as a practicing RN, 5 years in a management/supervisor capacity preferred. Three years’ experience in a psychiatric setting and/or drug or alcohol facility (evaluated individually), preferred. Ability to communicate well, both orally and written, and establish good rapport with staff and patients; leadership skills, ability to organize and facilitate patient care in a hospital setting, ability to work within a team structure.
Physical Requirements
Moderate walking and standing required while performing duties; ability to climb at least three flights of stairs; ability to move between buildings on campus. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (only in assisted lifts). Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Working Conditions
Accountable to the Chief Nursing Officer; responsible for the assigned nursing units
on a 24-hour, seven days per week basis. Works in normal well ventilated office.
