What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Promise Assistant Teacher position at Early Education Program?
- Provide individualized support to children with IFSP goals or other individualized needs.
- Assist in providing a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children.
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media, etc.) to teach children.
- Observe and interact with each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem.
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments.
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts, etc.).
- Organize and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times.
- Assist in tracking children’s progress.
- Welcoming with parents.
- Collaborate with other educators on the team.
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.
Skills:
- Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher.
- An understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms.
- Good communication and instructional skills.
- Ability to act as a mediator between children.
- Cool-tempered, friendly, and reliable.
- The balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen.
- BS/BA or Associate Degree in education or relevant field preferred.
Job Types: Full-time
- The classroom follows all ODE Health and Safety Guidelines. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be supplied.
- Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 prior to starting in the classroom (two weeks beyond a final dose in a primary series).

The Early Education Program (EEP) is Lane County’s largest specialized preschool. Since 1981, we have successfully served preschoolers with special needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and other developmental delays. In 2016, our organization expanded to also serve preschoolers from income-eligible families in the Eugene and Creswell communities through Oregon's Preschool Promise program. Currently, over 200 children attend our family of classrooms in Creswell, Eugene, Junction City, and Springfield.
